Celebrate the Start of the Garden Season at Blooms DayMarch 31, 2008The annual Blooms Day event will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Logan Park Recreation Center, 690 13th Avenue NE, Minneapolis. Hosted by Metro Blooms, formerly known as Minneapolis Blooms, this year's event will feature three FREE 20-minute seminars on (1) native perennial gardening, (2) residential green roofs, and (3) residential permeable pavers. These mini-seminars will take place throughout the morning. There will also be a big plant sale and a free seed giveaway. Representatives from plant societies, the Hennepin County Master Gardeners, and garden/landscape businesses will also be on hand to answer your questions. Bobby Jensen, local TV garden expert from Grow with KARE, will be the keynote speaker on "New and Unusual Plant Varieties for 2008." City Council Member, Paul Ostrow will present the top 2007 Minneapolis garden and gardener awards. Door prizes and refreshments top off this wonderful educational event and awards celebration. This event is free to the public, so regardless if you were born with a green thumb or are just a garden admirer, join us as we kick off the garden season.
